Join the Challenge

This past Sunday a Challenge was made to each of us at Parkway. The Challenge seems simple at first glance, but requires discipline. The Challenge is this: to set an alarm (either on your computer, phone or watch) that goes off one time during each hour that you are awake…every time the alarm goes off, you are to pause for a moment and think of God.

No matter what you are doing when the alarm goes off, you think of God. This is a way to begin developing the habit to connect with God in a continuous conversation. The 60 minute reminders are simply an opportunity for us to reorient our hearts and minds to God.

It is really a great thing. With every alarm and every reminder, stop and acknowledge God’s presence with you and thank Him that He cares about you and wants to help you through your day. The other thing that begins to happen is that you begin to talk with God about everything. As we are reminded of God’s presence, our minds open up and we talk with God about all our worries, thoughts, challenges, temptations, decisions and failures throughout the day. Imagine what kind of Revolution you can experience...

If you want to spend the rest of Lent doing the Challenge, I would love to know about it so we can pray for you and encourage you. So shoot me an email and let me know that you are in!!

Follow the Rabbi

I believe the way of life of a Revolutionary is to be a mirror…to reflect the love, grace and peace of Jesus Christ. It is when our lives are mirrors, we live out the creed of the Revolutionary: Do whatever it takes to get closer to God and to help others do the same.

Traditionally, the season of Lent is a time for us to “give up” something. Some people give up chocolate or sodas. I even know a few young people who have given up Facebook for Lent. I believe that “giving up” something is a valuable discipline but this Lent we have been encouraged to add something. This Lent we are encouraged to add a characteristic that we see in Jesus…a characteristic that a Revolutionary should reflect.

The first week of Lent, we learned about what it means to live a life of Radical Hospitality. We learned that as Revolutionaries we are to embrace both the stranger in our midst and as well as those who are closest to us. Then last week we were each challenged to practice a life of Passionate Worship. We discovered that a Revolutionary doesn’t just worship on Sundays, but chooses to worship God each day as we live a life centered on God. This Sunday we learn about Intentional Faith Development which is necessary if we are to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Join us as we Follow the Rabbi….

Introducing Parkway Day School

The precise balance of academic and spiritual elements... that’s what makes Parkway...God’s way.

Parkway Day School provides a licensed weekday ministry offering preschool children opportunities to develop intellectually, physically and emotionally in a Christian environment. In this setting, Parkway preschoolers will discover the beauty of God’s world and wonders of His love. They will learn in a play based program under the direction of qualified Christian instruction. The teachers will plan activities that meet and often exceed the physical, mental, social and most importantly the spiritual needs of its preschoolers.

Ages and classes: The program offers classes for children from 2 years to Pre-K. Classes are divided into the following age groups: 24 - 30 months, 2 ½ - 3 ½ years, 3 ½ - 4 ½ years, 4 - 5 years Pre-K Prep, 5+ years - Bridge Class

Each class is structured in centers, which make learning fun through experiencing rather than listening. These experiences facilitate language, social, motor and spiritual growth. Themes are selected by our teachers monthly, which provide opportunities for the growth of each child. Each theme ties into a Christian message which is reinforced throughout the month. Both academic and spiritual elements are explored, experienced and reinforced.

In addition, the Parkway Day School curriculum includes time for the children to experience chapel, computer, music and Spanish classes, as well as a variety of special events and activities.
